Concrete Slab & Foundation Work
Solid foundations and precision slabs for residential and commercial projects

Why Your Foundation Matters
Your foundation is the most important part of any structure. Everything else depends on it. A well-built concrete foundation keeps your building level, prevents settling, and protects against moisture damage. Cutting corners on foundation work leads to expensive problems down the road.
Here in La Mesa, we work with different soil conditions that require specific foundation approaches. Clay soils expand and contract with moisture changes. Sandy soils need proper compaction. We assess your site conditions and design foundations that will perform reliably for decades.
Whether you are building a new home, adding a room addition, installing a patio, or constructing a garage or shed, we provide foundation solutions that meet or exceed building code requirements. Our work comes with the confidence that comes from proper engineering and skilled installation.
Types of Foundation and Slab Work We Do
Different projects require different foundation approaches. We have experience with all common types and can recommend the best solution for your specific situation.
Our foundation services include:
- Slab-on-grade foundations: The most common type for residential construction in our area. We excavate, prepare the base, install vapor barriers, pour and finish the concrete slab.
- Post-tension slab foundations: Uses tensioned cables for added strength on expansive soils. Reduces cracking and provides superior performance.
- Stem wall foundations: Raised foundation with concrete footings and walls. Ideal for sloped lots or areas with drainage concerns.
- Garage and shop slabs: Thicker concrete designed to handle vehicle weight and heavy equipment. We slope them properly for drainage.
- Room addition foundations: Carefully matched to your existing foundation to prevent differential settling.
- Equipment pads: Heavy-duty slabs for HVAC units, generators, pool equipment, and other machinery.
- Shed and storage building foundations: Right-sized foundations for accessory structures.
Our Foundation Installation Process
Quality foundation work starts long before we pour any concrete. Proper preparation and attention to detail during every step make the difference between a foundation that performs and one that fails.
We begin with site evaluation and soil testing when needed. Next comes excavation to the proper depth and grade. We compact the subgrade to prevent settling and install a gravel base for drainage and support. Vapor barriers go down to prevent moisture migration from the ground.
We install forms to exact dimensions and grades. Reinforcement steel gets placed according to engineering specifications. We carefully pour and finish the concrete, paying close attention to surface flatness and proper slope for drainage. Finally, we apply proper curing methods and strip the forms once the concrete reaches sufficient strength.
Our commercial foundation experience means we understand the importance of meeting specifications and timelines. We coordinate with other trades and keep your project moving forward.
Meeting Code Requirements
Foundation work requires permits and inspections. We handle all aspects of the permitting process and schedule required inspections. Our work consistently passes inspection the first time because we know the requirements and build to meet them.
Building codes exist to ensure safety and performance. They specify concrete strength, reinforcement requirements, foundation depth, and other critical factors. We stay current on code requirements and incorporate them into every foundation we build.
When you work with us, you get the peace of mind that comes from knowing your foundation meets all structural requirements. We document our work and provide you with all inspection records for your files.
